London, 15th April 2005, The Labour Party’s website has become the top politics site in the UK, outstripping the Conservatives’ site for the first time since the general election was called ten days ago.
Daily rankings from Hitwise, global leader in real-time competitive intelligence, shows that on Wednesday April 13th – the same day Labour released its election manifesto – www.labour.org.uk jumped from #5 to #1 in the space of 24 hours, bumping www.conservatives.com from its top position. The Conservatives’ site fell to #3, behind the Guardian’s election coverage on its Unlimited Politics site (politics.guardian.co.uk).
Labour’s market share for Wednesday April 13th was 13.51%, over 20% more than that of the Conservatives, and its top position represents the first time the site has been #1 within the Hitwise Politics category.

Meanwhile, the Greens also released their manifesto this week, resulting in the manifesto’s subsite, manifesto.greenparty.org.uk, debuting in the UK politics rankings at #12.
Viral website www.whoshouldyouvotefor.org also entered the top 10 on the same day, debuting at #8. The site makes voting recommendations based on users’ answers to an online questionnaire on various topical political issues.
