Facebook Top Search Term in 2009

New York, NY, Dec. 15, 2010 - Experian Hitwise has analyzed the top 300 search terms for 2009 and Facebook was the top-searched term overall. This is the first year that the social networking Website has been the top search term overall, accounting for 0.67 percent of all searches.1 In fact, four variations of the term “facebook” were among the top 25 terms.

Google Receives 71 Percent of Searches in November 2009

New York, NY, Dec. 9, 2009 - Experian Hitwise announced today that Google accounted for 71.57 percent of all U.S. searches conducted in the four weeks ending Nov. 28, 2009. Yahoo! Search, Bing and Ask.com received 15.39 percent, 9.34 percent and 2.65 percent, respectively. The remaining 52 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.07 percent of U.S. searches.

Black Friday Traffic Up 87 Percent Pre-Thanksgiving Week

New York, NY, Nov. 24, 2009 - Experian Hitwise announced today that online traffic to a custom category of Black Friday advertising Websites increased 87 percent for the week ending Nov. 21, 2009. Visits to Black Friday Websites are up 4 percent compared with the same week in 2008.

Online dispute among airline leaders grows and peaks in November, Serasa Experian Hitwise study reveals

Sao Paolo, Brazil – Nov. 24, 2009 - The online competitive activities of the main Brazilian air carriers intensified in the second half of 2009. This is what is revealed in a study by Serasa Experian Hitwise, a Serasa Experian solution that provides information about the interaction of 90,000 people in 60,000 websites in Brazil. Analysis of the "Airline Sector", done on the week ended November 14, shows Azul had two peaks in its market share of online visits. They were followed by a reduction of the share of the two leaders, Gol and TAM, and happened in the weeks ended September 19 and November 7.

U.S. Searches on H1N1 and Swine Flu Increased 100 Percent

New York, NY, Nov. 19, 2009 - Experian Hitwise announced today that U.S. searches on a portfolio of terms related to H1N1 and Swine Flu have increased 100 percent for the four weeks ending Oct. 31, 2009, compared with the previous four weeks. Online searches on the term “h1n1” increased 115 percent while searches on “swine flu” increased 18 percent for the same time period. Searches continued to climb heading into November as Americans search for vaccine availability and learn more about the symptoms of the virus.

Bing Searches Increase 7 Percent in October 2009

New York, NY, Nov. 11, 2009 – Experian Hitwise announced today that Google accounted for 70.60 percent of all U.S. searches conducted in the four weeks ending Oct. 31, 2009. Yahoo! Search, Bing and Ask.com received 16.14 percent, 9.57 percent and 2.62 percent, respectively. The remaining 52 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.10 percent of U.S. searches.

Michael Jackson and Balloon Boy Top Costume Searches

New York, NY, Oct. 29, 2009 - The search terms “michael jackson costume” and “balloon boy costume” were the most popular among all U.S. Internet searches that contained the phrase “costume” for the four weeks ending Oct. 24, 2009, according to Experian Hitwise.

Google Receives 80 Percent of Canadian Searches in September 2009

New York, NY, Oct. 19, 2009 - Experian Hitwise announced today that Google search properties accounted for 80.46 percent of all Canadian searches conducted in the 12 weeks ending Oct. 3, 2009. Yahoo! search properties, Bing search properties and Ask search properties received 7.99 percent, 7.65 percent and 3.09 percent, respectively. The remaining 46 search engines in the Experian Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1 percent of Canadian searches.

Facebook Visits Increased 194 Percent in Past Year

New York, N.Y., Oct. 9, 2009 - Experian Hitwise announced today that Facebook accounted for 58.59 percent of all U.S. visits among a custom category of 155 social networking Web sites in September 2009. The 58 percent was the highest among all social networking sites sites, as U.S. visits to Facebook increased 194 percent in September 2009 compared with September 2008. MySpace received the second-highest market share of U.S. visits for the month, with 30 percent.

Bing Increases 18 Percent in August 2009

Search, Bing and Ask.com received 16.96 percent, 9.48 percent and 2.37 percent, respectively. The remaining 56 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 0.95 percent of U.S. searches.

Only 70 Percent of Canadian Searches Are Successful

Classifieds Traffic Soars in Recession

New York, NY - April 1, 2009 -U.S. online traffic to Classifieds Web sites increased 84 percent in February 2009 compared with last year, according to a new report from Hitwise®, an Experian company. The industry has experienced positive month-to-month growth in share of U.S. visits in all but one month in the past three years. As the state of the U.S. economy has worsened, visits to Classifieds Web sites have continued to climb, up 28 percent from December 2008 to February 2009.
