Socceroos Stuff History
Visits to the Sports - Soccer category reached a daily peak on June 13 over a 3-month period accounting for almost 1% of all Australian Internet activity, the day after the momentous Socceroos victory against Japan in the FIFA World Cup.
Searches for the 'socceroos' also spiked dramatically, reaching a 3-month peak, week ending June 10, 2006. The Football Federation website (www.footballaustralia.com.au) received the most traffic on this term with 29.7% of traffic. Listings from the Google news service also enjoyed traffic from the term, 'socceroos', with Google News Australia (news.google.com.au) receiving 10.4% of traffic.
Nike's TV campaign, "Stuff History" has successfully driven website traffic to the Nike Football Australia website (www.nikefootball.com.au). Stuff History (www.stuffhistory.com.au), which allows users to post comments to support the Socceroos against unfavourable odds, contributed 72.7% of upstream traffic to Nike Football for May 2006.
Hitwise Demographic data indicate that soccer remains a bloke's sport, with male Internet users accounting for 69.2% of visits to the Sports - Soccer category for the week ending June 10, 2006.

Jetstar marked its second anniversary of flying on Thursday, May 25 with "Take a friend for free sale" and this was a primary driver for Jetstar's (www.jetstar.com.au) surge in Australian Internet market share during May. For the week ending May 20 the Jetstar site was the 67th most popular Australian website in Australia and by the week ending May 27 it had risen to be the 37th most popular; an increase of 30 positions.
Promotions such as this, the presence of Jetstar - Hotel Search and the release of Jetstar - Holidays has not only seen Jetstar increase their market share for the short term; but the week ending June 17 has seen Jetstar owning 23.66% market share in the Australian Commercial Airlines category.
The average session duration for a visit to Jetstar lasted 8 minutes, 36 seconds for the week ending May 20 and increased to 12 minutes, 37 seconds for the week ending May 27. This increase in session time may indicate that visitors were not only looking but also making a booking.
