YouTube Streaming Ahead Online
With consumer generated online content growing in popularity worldwide, Hitwise looks into the performance of YouTube (www.youtube.com). YouTube allows users to upload, view, and share video clips. The site officially launched its service in December 2005. YouTube uses Macromedia Flash to serve its content and is popular in much the same way as Google Video due to its ability to host anyone's videos. It hosts a variety of movie and TV show clips, music videos, and homemade videos.
A few months prior the website was officially launched, YouTube (www.youtube.com) ranked number 1,248 in the Entertainment category for the week ending September 24, 2005 with a market share of 0.01%, however by May 13, 2006, with the proliferation of movie trailers on the web, and consumer appetite for on-demand entertainment, it became the number 1 Entertainment website with a market share of 5.23%.
Other popular online video clip websites trailing YouTube in Hong Kong include MSN Video Search (video.msn.com) and Google Video Search (video.google.com).
According to Hitwise Clickstream data, the leading source of visit to www.youtube.com for the week ending May 13, 2006 was Yahoo! Hong Kong, which accounted for 4.73% of upstream visits. The average session duration for the Entertainment - Multimedia category during that week was 6 minutes 14 seconds.

It is a global furniture company with sensible DIY savvy and avant-garde products at reasonable prices. The Ikea Hong Kong website features information on products, promotions, office planning services and instalment plans.
Ikea Hong Kong website moved up 785 places to rank 1,457 in all categories for the week ending May 6, 2006; the site recorded a rise of 104% market share between the week ending April 1 and May 6, 2006 for the Lifestyle - House and Garden category. The site ranked number 2 in the Shopping and Classifieds - House and Garden category with a 13.7% market share for the week ending May 6, 2006. The increase in visit was mostly brought about by their latest 2006 summer range of products.
The top three websites visited before www.ikea.com.hk for the week ending May 6, 2006 were Yahoo! Hong Kong (9.20%), Yahoo! Hong Kong Search (5.56%) and Ikea Furniture (3.99%). The average visit time to the Ikea Hong Kong website was 2 minutes 33 seconds for the week ending May 6, 2006.
