Disney Draws a Crowd Online
Recent research from Hitwise suggests that theme parks make up some of the most popular tourist destinations in Hong Kong, namely Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park (www.oceanpark.com.hk).

The Hong Kong Disneyland website (www.hongkongdisneyland.com) has consistently remained the #1 website in the Destinations and Accommodation industry among Hong Kong Internet users since April 2007, capturing 9.15% of market share for the month of July. Disneyland Hong Kong celebrated its third birthday by offering discounted ticket prices and the chance for annual pass holders to bring a friend for free during early September. As a result the Hong Kong Disneyland website further cemented its lead among Destinations and Accommodation websites, experiencing an increase in traffic of over 43% during the week ending 25/08/07.

Among the most popular websites to refer traffic to the Disneyland website during the week ending 25/08/07 were Disney Hong Kong - www.disney.com.hk (5.83%), online newspaper Apple Daily Online - appledaily.atnext.com (1.48%), Ocean Park Hong Kong - www.oceanpark.com.hk (1.02%) and weather forecasting website Hong Kong Observatory - www.hko.gov.hk (0.83%).

Heading overseas, popular travel destinations for Hong Kong visitors included Thailand, Britain and Japan, with travel websites such as Thailandfans.com, Visit Britain HK (www.visitbritain.hk), and Riben Manyou (www.e-japannavi.com) all appearing among the top 30 websites in the Destinations and Accommodation industry, for the week ending 25/08/07.

According to Hitwise Hong Kong, the photo sharing website Flickr (www.flickr.com) has increased its ranking among Entertainment websites from the 53rd most popular in April to be ranked 29 in August. The top visited website before and after www.flickr.com for August was web development website Yahoo! Geocities (geocities.yahoo.com).
