| Singapore's Most Popular Websites Announced |
Hitwise announced Singapore's most popular websites throughout 2007 at the Singapore Online Performance Awards evening held on 3rd April 2008. Recognising the No. 1 websites across a wide variety of industries, the celebration evening attracted over 180 thought leaders and online marketers at the forefront of their online industries.
The presence of the Yahoo! team at the event was well noted, with Yahoo! collecting 6 awards including the No.1 website for 2007 in the Email Services, Portal Frontpages, Software, Auctions, Classifieds and Business Information industries. The popularity of Yahoo! among Singapore Internet users continues to remain strong well into 2008, with sg.yahoo.com increasing its market share of visits amongst all websites visited by Singapore Internet users by over 54% during the month of March 2008.
Community websites top-of-mind among Singapore Internet users for 2007 were The Red Cross and The Courage Fund, which won the No. 1 awards in the Community - Humanitarian and Community - Organisations industries respectively. During March 2008, the top websites to refer traffic to the Community industry were Google Singapore (27.01%), Yahoo! Singapore Search (19.40%), Google (9.55%) and Windows Live Mail (6.78%).
The Flowerpod Community website (www.flowerpod.com.sg) which offers viewers a forum to share and exchange beauty tips and advice, was amongst a number of websites to receive a No.1 Online Performance Award for the first time during 2007. According to Hitwise Search Term data, during the 24 weeks ending 05/04/2008 'double eyelid surgery', 'acupuncture slimming' and 'eyelash extension' were some of the topics Internet users were heading to the Flowerpod Community for. Other websites to receive the No.1 annual award for the first time included Golden Village (www.gv.com.sg) and Alexandra Hospital (www.alexhosp.com.sg).

The World Gourmet Summit (www.worldgourmetsummit.com), an international festival featuring renowned chefs and showcasing internationally acclaimed wines, was held in Singapore from April 7 - 26. The World Gourmet Summit website, increased its rankings significantly by 10,790 places, propelling it from a ranking of 14,001 (week ending 22/3/2008) to rank as the 3,211 most popular website as visited by Singapore Internet users during the week ending April 5, 2008.
During the week ending April 25, the majority of upstream traffic to the World Gourmet Summit website was generated by Google Singapore (www.google.com.sg) which contributed 25.71% of visits, followed by Gmail (8.57%) and Yahoo! Mail (5.71%). Search term data revealed that during the 24 week period ending 05/04/2008, searches for 'world gourmet summit' accounted for 17.86% of all search traffic, followed by 'world gourmet summit 2008' (10.71%) and 'wgs 2008' (5.36%).
