Community Organisations Experience All Time High
Websites within the Community - Organisations industry have attracted an increase in market share of visits by 49.99% during May 2008, which resulted in the industry experiencing its highest ever monthly market share of visits. This recent surge follows a year-on-year trend, which has seen visits by Singapore Internet users to the Community - Organisations industry grow by over 84% between May 2007 and May 2008.

The Community - Organisations industry includes websites of specific non-profit, non-government organisations, operating in the community. During May 2008, the most popular websites in this industry were NS Portal (www.ns.sg), Youth.SG (www.youth.sg), Singapore Red Cross (www.redcross.org.sg) and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (www.spca.org.sg). Singapore Red Cross experienced its highest monthly rank for 2008, jumping 11 places to rank as the 3rd most visited website during May 2008.

During the 12 months ending May 2008, the key traffic drivers referring Singapore Internet users to the Community - Organisations industry have changed dramatically. Search Engines accounted for a large proportion of traffic during May 2008 (29.4%); however this was a decrease of over 22% year-on-year. Comparatively, the Email Services and Social Networking & Forums industries have flourished, increasing referrals to the Community - Organisations industry by 34.02% and 57.8% respectively.

Singapore Internet users are taking an interest in Yahoo! Shine. This fast moving website moved 1197 places during the 4 weeks ending 14/06/08 to rank 50th most popular website visited in the Lifestyle industry and also increased its market share of visits 22-fold.

Yahoo! Shine is a content portal aimed at women aged 25 to 54 covering information and insights on fashion and beauty, healthy living, entertainment, parenting, work and money, and more. With a wealth of content, the average visit time has increased from to 2 minutes, 27 seconds to 7 minutes, 37 seconds over the 4 weeks ending 14/06/2008.

Yahoo! Shine received over 50% of its traffic from other Yahoo! websites during the week ending 14/06/2008. The top 5 websites driving upstream traffic to Yahoo! Shine that week were: Yahoo! Singapore (36.94%); Yahoo! (15.77%); Yahoo! Mail Singapore (2.25%); My Yahoo! (2.25%); and Yahoo! Singapore News (1.80%).

For only the second time in over 12 months, the Computers & Internet - Social Networking & Forums industry referred a greater percentage of traffic to the Education - Institutions industry than the Computers & Internet - Email Services industry (week ending 07/06/2008). During this same period, the Social Networking & Forums industry accounted for 9.99% of the upstream traffic to Education - Institutions, representing a 31.8% increase when compared with the same period last year (week ending 09/06/2007).
