| Bebo Overtakes eBay as Most Searched-for Brand in the UK |
eBay has consistently dominated the list of highest volume search terms in the UK for the last two years, however social networking brand "bebo" has now become the most searched-for term by UK consumers.
With the exception of one week in September 2006, the term "ebay" topped the list as the highest volume search term in the UK. However, Bebo again became the most searched-for term in the UK for the week ending 26th May 2007, holding the #1 position for the subsequent three weeks. Share of UK Internet searches for "bebo" have increased three-fold in the past year and two-fold in the past six months.
During May, Bebo ranked #6 among All Categories of websites based on share of UK Internet visits, up from #8 in April and ahead of MySpace at #8. Bebo now ranks behind Google UK, eBay UK, Windows Live Hotmail, Google.com and MSN UK.
Bebo continues to appeal mostly to kids living with their parents. The MOSAIC Groups "Happy Families" and "Rural Isolation" are most highly indexed on the website. Internet users from the Group "Happy Families" were 23% more likely to be on Bebo than average while those from "Rural Isolation" were 95% more likely to be on the website. Both groups are more likely than average for the UK offline population to have kids between 10-14 years of age.

Classifieds ad website, Gumtree, entered the top 20 Shopping & Classifieds websites during May, based on share of UK visits. Share of UK Internet visits to Gumtree increased 69% year-on-year in May, 35% in the past six months and 9% in the past month.
Gumtree dominates the Shopping & Classifieds - Classifieds category, capturing 18.4% of UK category visits. It has ranked as the #1 Classifieds website since September 2005, when it overtook AdTrader.
The website receives its traffic from search, email, social networks and retail websites. In May, 38% of UK visits to the website came from Search Engines (84% of which was from Google), 11% from web-based Email Services, 11% from Shopping and Classifieds and 7% from Net Communities and Chat.

| Hotels Make Gains Online from Search but Continue to Rely Heavily on Brand Searches |
This Hitwise analysis was prepared using a custom category of the top 20 hotel websites based on UK visits in April.
Hotel brands have made great efforts in the past two years to strengthen their online presence, and have made public commitments to offer the best price to those booking on the hotel website. They have also stepped up their online marketing efforts and are in many cases competing directly with travel agencies.
Hotel websites are making gains from search engines; with the Search Engines category accounting for 52.55% of visits to the Hotels custom category for the month of April 2007. Traffic to the category from search engines has increased year-on-year by 9.4%.
The number one search term accounting for 7.39% of search traffic to the Hotels custom category was "travel lodge" and the term "hotels" was the only non-branded search term appearing in the top 50 search terms for the Hotels custom category during the four weeks ending 26th May 2007. The term ranked 44 amongst the 10,498 unique search terms sending visits to the category.
Travelodge, ICHotels Group and Premier Travel Inn dominated visits to Hotel websites, capturing more than half (58.84%) of custom category visits during the month of April 2007.
