Social Networking Visits Increase 11.5 Percent From January To February
iMeem and Bebo are the Fastest Movers

Hitwise announced the market share of Internet visits to the top 20 social networking websites grew by 11.5 percent from January to February 2007, to account for 6.5 percent of all Internet visits in February 2007.

Websites that showed the largest increases in market share of visits were Buzznet, up 148.4 percent and iMeem, up 145.7 percent from January to February 2007. Other fast growing websites included Hoverspot (up 19.6 percent) and Bebo (up 17.8 percent). Category leaders MySpace and Facebook also grew from January to February, with visits increasing 10.2 and 9.1 percent respectively.

With March Madness taking place this month, it is no surprise the rank of www.ncaasports.com, the website dedicated to sports coverage for the National Collegiate Athletic Association, has moved up 794 positions among all websites visited by U.S. Internet users for the week ending March 10, 2007. The majority of visitors to this website are male (56 percent), aged 35-44 (28 percent). Furthermore, the website has increased its market share of visits by 39% percent for that week.

Analyst Weblogs: Google Base and Real Estate

John Battelle's post here alerted me to Google's push in the real estate space. As a search engine, Google plays a dominant role as the #1 source of traffic to the Hitwise U.S. Real Estate category (1,825 sites), providing close to 16% of all traffic to the category (up from 13% a year ago). This chart shows the growth of visits from Google's main search page to the real estate category.
