Searches For ‘Spring Break’ Up 78 Percent Year-Over-Year
Yahoo! was the Top Spring Break Online Destination

Hitwise announced the share of searches for the term "spring break" increased 78 percent year-over-year, for the week ending March 17, 2007 versus the week ending March 18, 2006.

Online portal Yahoo! received the most visits from the search term "spring break" for the week ending March 17, 2007. Following Yahoo! was SpringBreak.com and SpringBreakWorld.com. Mixed in among the different spring break websites and destination spots were photo website Webshots Community, information resource website Wikipedia, top social networking website MySpace and cable network MTV Online.

The majority of visitors to this website were female (59 percent), aged 55+ (29 percent). Furthermore, the website has increased its market share of visits by 231% percent for that week, compared to the prior week.

We're down to eleven contestants and its game-on for our analysis of contestant search volume. The chart below shows search volume for the top eight contestants for the week ending 3/17/07 (Gina Glocksen, Jordin Sparks and Stephanie Edwards didn't make the chart this week due to insufficient volume, although based on Jordin's blockbuster performance last night she's sure to enter the chart next week).

Vocal powerhouse Lakisha Jones took an early lead in late Feb, dwarfing other viable contestants, however for this last week, she's trailing behind a number of singers including Haley Scarnato and the Michael Jacksonesque Sanjaya Malakar.
