| Theme Parks Top US Travel Destinations for July |
Internet Users Search for Vacations Close to Home
Hitwise announced that during the peak month for Internet traffic to travel websites, US Internet users were searching for theme parks close to home. The natural seasonal peak in visits to Travel websites occurs each July and Hitwise Search Intelligence data reveals that during the busy summer travel season, all but one of the top 10 most searched for travel destinations was a theme park.
The search terms "disneyland", "six flags" and "cedar point" topped the list of the most searched for destinations sending visits to Travel websites. All of the top ten destinations were domestic and "las vegas" was the only top 10 destination search term that was not a theme park.

| Stephanie Meyer and the Reverse Tipping Point |
August 11, 2007 - Bill Tancer
We've written several blog posts about finding the "tipping point" for bands and musical artists using Hitwise data (see here). Heather Hopkins our VP of Research first discovered this phenomenon here.
I wasn't surprised when I read this article (subscription required) in the Wall Street Journal yesterday that suggested that a relatively new young-adult author, Stephanie Meyer, may offer readers an alternative to the now finished Harry Potter series. I wasn't surprised because we've seen Stephanie Meyer's site popularity increase substantially, rising to the #5 position (of 800 sites) in our Entertainment - Books category.
