With Hulu, Older Audiences Lead the Way
February 10, 2009 - Bill Tancer, GM of Global Research, Hitwise

Online Segmentation Snapshot
The Most Popular Flower and Gift Websites for Men
Using Hitwise Lifestyle, which incorporates MOSAIC® USA, a leading household segmentation system, you can identify the most popular sites in an industry that attract a specific segment. For example, the top three websites in the Hitwise Flowers and Gifts category that attracted the largest volume of men aged 35-44 in the "New Suburbia Families" type were Barnes & Noble Gifts, Proflowers and Lillian Vernon for the four weeks ending 02/07/2009. The New Suburbia Families segment consists of young, wealthy working couples with pre-school children concentrated in rapidly-growing, metro fringe communities - mainly in the West and Southwest. More than two-thirds of these households have gone to college and many workers earn six-figure incomes. They prioritize price and functionality over style when they purchase electronics and clothing at retailers like Target, Best Buy and Wal-Mart. They mostly go online to search for jobs, trade stocks and check out real estate listings.

Guest Post - Opportunities with Coupon Promotional Terms
February 17, 2009 - James Bake, Hitwise user and Internet Marketing Professional

Coupons and promotions are an essential part of the shopping experience, and promotional search terms are popular on almost all referring search term reports. Like many online shoppers, I have learned that promotional codes can be found all over the web. As a commerce site, there is an array of opportunities to employ the promotional frenzy to work for you.

Along with finding discounts online, I am also a fan of using analytics to prompt action. The Hitwise Clickstream reports can be used to locate upstream websites that are driving traffic to your website as well as those driving traffic to competitors. In this particular post, I encourage you to focus your attention on websites from the Rewards and Directory category, including coupon and rebate sites. The findings from this report can identify key partners to develop relationships and inform your competitive surroundings.
