In the lead up to Christmas Hitwise will be releasing it’s annual weekly Top 10 listings for the most popular product and toy searches! In our second installment, you can view the most popular items everyone is looking for.
Hot Holiday Products – Week 4
First up, we take a look at Ebay site searches, that is the consumer search queries being made on the search function of the website: www.ebay.com.au, using our Custom ‘Internal Site Searches’ capabilities. Let’s take a look at the most demanded products.
In week 4 consumer electronics are top of the list, with JB HiFi predicting the average basket size for this category will be in excess of $116, it is no surprise that ‘Nintendo Switch’ jumps up 6 spots from last week to hit top spot, followed closely by ‘PS4’, ‘Headphones’, and ‘Xbox One’ – gadgets and tech are all the rage.
Top Toys – Week 4
To evaluate the most popular toys we jumped into Hitwise and ran a search term report of all the search terms driving traffic to the ‘Shopping & Classifieds – Toys & Hobbies’ industry. From here we can pin point which specific terms fell a part of our Top Toys list. (Making for some great gift ideas as well!)
With 21 days left till Santa arrives, let’s take a look at what Toy searches are completing our list in week 4.
The popular performer for the week is (again) Lego making the Top 10 list 3 times with ‘Harry Potter Lego’, ‘Lego Technic’ and ‘Star Wars Lego’ related searches. However, springing straight to the top and surpassing all those terms, is ‘Trampoline’ a key indicator that consumers are really preparing for some summer fun in the backyard this Christmas for kids (and big kids). This week the new searches ‘Build a Bear’ and ‘Elf on the Shelf’ at number 2 and 3 respectively both featuring in the Top 10 Toys list for the first time in 3 weeks since starting the count down.
Staying on top of trending product demand in the lead up to Christmas — particularly within the platforms where your product is distributed — will help you ensure campaign activity aligns with current consumer demands.
We will be updating you every week on the most searched products & toys, so you can keep an eye out here for our weekly new Top 10 list and a look back at the previous weeks’.
