Our partnership with Kantar Media TGI research captures a variety of on- and offline consumer attributes including financial preferences and brand choices, health, lifestage, demographics and channel preferences.
2016
Launch of consumer insights platform & Forbes names Hitwise a revolutionizing tech company!
Hitwise launches the new audience insights platform based on search, visit and conversion behaviors. Same year Forbes names Hitwise as one of the top 5 most revolutionizing tech companies.
2015
Acquisition by STG / Connexity

Hitwise is now able to access purchase intent data collected by the Connexity retail listing network, which distributes millions of product listings from leading retailers to over 5M interested shoppers across the web.

2014
Introduced consumer research data partnership with simmons in the US

Hitwise's partnership with Simmons allows us to measure US consumer psychographics, preferences, attitudes, and media behaviors.

2010
Launch of web-page visitor numbers

Hitwise launches web-page visitor numbers enabling clients to track their online visits and compare these over time.

2009
Launch of demographics and delivers first Audience Segmentation Report

Hitwise launches its first acquired demographics to its clients and the first Audience Segmentation Report is generated.

2005
Google Analytics launch

Google Analytics launched through the acquisition of Urchin Software - a web statistics analysis program. Google entered the analytics space by releasing the first enterprise analytics product for free, and as a result, disrupting the marketplace.

2003
Launched Hitwise for brand alignment and entered the U.S.

Hitwise enters the US market to continue its international expansion.

2001
Hitwise enters the UK market

Worldwide there are 544.2 million internet users.

2000
Launch of our competitive benchmarking and search application (CI) and the development of Development of site categorization

The launch of our first platform allows users to benchmark and discover search terms. The development of site categorization was also implemented into our tool, allowing users to segment by any chosen industry.

1999
Top100.com launched in Australia

With millions of people using the internet and the demand for website hit counters increasing, Top100.com launched in Australia. Top100.com can be held as one of Hitwise's founding fathers.

1997
Google.com is registered

The world-renowned domain is registered and the Sinewave Interactive Company formed in Melbourne, becoming specialists in SEO - Prospective clients didn’t even know what search engines were!

1996
Hit counters become popular for tracking site traffic.

At this moment in time, there are approximately 45 million people using the internet meaning that keeping tabs on website hits was becoming increasingly important for websites and their perfromance.

1990
First implementation of the internet​

The “network of networks” became the modern Internet, taking on the recognizable form in 1990, when computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web.
