Nigel Wilson Appointed Chief Operating Officer
LOS ANGELES (August 27, 2018) Hitwise, an industry market leader in digital consumer insights today announced that Timur Yarnall, a former comScore executive and serial entrepreneur, has been appointed to the newly-created position of CEO & President.
Hitwise provides hundreds of top marketers such as Best Buy, Expedia and Mercedes Benz with unique insights on consumer attitudes, audience composition, and competitive benchmarking. The company is part of Connexity which is owned by Symphony Technology Group (STG), a strategic private equity firm. STG established Mr. Yarnall’s position as part of a foundation of product innovation, a return to strong growth, and a strategic framework to establish a strong independent roadmap to accelerate the growth of Hitwise through 2018 and beyond.
“The world of consumer measurement, and digital marketing in general, is undergoing a significant amount of disruption that we believe creates opportunities for Hitwise to grow exponentially on the back of product innovation. Timur has founded several highly successful digital companies and spent 3+ years in the senior management team at comScore and so has the right market-understanding foundation, innovation centricity and leadership experience to build on current growth and to establish Hitwise as a leader in digital audience measurement and data quality,” says J.T. Treadwell, Managing Director at STG. “We also are extremely pleased with the return to solid growth that Hitwise has already demonstrated, and as such are pleased that Nigel Wilson is taking on a new role to expand the business globally while continuing excellent work in driving the business in its core markets. As we continue to build this company within a company, we believe he will be an excellent partner to Timur and the Board in taking Hitwise to the next stage of its evolution.”
As Senior Vice-President, Advertising Products & Corporate Development at comScore (SCOR), Mr. Yarnall ran the digital ad validation and data management (DMP) platform partnerships teams responsible for comScore’s core advertising product platforms, include vCE, Activation, and Lift product lines. Prior to comScore, Mr. Yarnall was CEO/co-founder for MdotLabs, the leading provider of bot detection and campaign security tools for digital advertising which was acquired by comScore in August 2014. He was also co-founder of Broadcast Interactive Media, a leading TV data services provider that acted as a trusted resource for hundreds of local broadcasters such as Gannett, NBC, and CBS. Mr. Yarnall holds a BS and his MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, with a focus on Mechatronics (embedded systems) for his graduate work. He still serves as an Advisor to a number of seed and Series A startups.
“Hitwise has been providing in-depth and quality measurement of how consumers and audiences search and visit on line for over 17 years. Today we provide incredibly granular and daily data on on-line audience behaviours that inform search strategies, allow brands to understand how they are winning audiences online vs their competition, and also provides the opportunity to measure campaign impact,” says Mr. Yarnall. “Hitwise has a well established reputation for quality from the very early days of the web, a team that is first class and an incredibly vast and loyal customer base. Yet our best days are still ahead of us.”
Mr. Wilson has been Managing Director of the Hitwise business unit since January 2015. Before that he spent most of his career at Experian achieving posts of increasingly greater responsibility and financial scope while becoming one of the UK’s leading experts in defining, understanding and reaching target audiences for brands. He was Managing Director of Experian’s UK Targeting Business for 7 years prior to joining Hitwise. Mr. Wilson holds a B.S. in Marketing and Economics from the University of Lancaster.
“I am looking forward to taking Hitwise to additional international markets, deepening the Hitwise core offering around search insights and competitor intelligence and working with Timur to develop new measurement services,” says Mr. Wilson.
